Obituary for Gary Merrill Castle

Gary Merrill Castle died peacefully at Manor by the Sea, Ocean Grove on Friday, December 14, 2018. Gary was born at the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, PA moving to Earl, New Jersey. Once his father retired from the Navy they settled in Atlantic Highlands. Gary attended Henry Hudson Regional School, Highlands, and was a member of the First Methodist Church in Atlantic Highlands.

Gary was different, always marching to the beat of his own drum. As a child he loved playing outside and riding his bike. It was a happy time for him and his siblings. Gary struggled for many years trying to find his place in this world and he finally found it when he moved to Asbury Park Towers, which was a blessing. He was welcomed there with open arms, and had finally found the peace he was looking for. He would go the beach, walk the boardwalk, and sit and enjoy the ocean.

His family would like to acknowledge all the people who cared for Gary. First, our heartfelt gratitude to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, the staff, doctors, and especially Ms. Elise Milesa who watched over him for 30 years, and shared a special bond with him. Please know how special you were to him. And to the staff at Asbury Park Towers, who made his last five years happy ones.

Gary was predeceased by his father Leonard Castle; his mother Ruby Castle; brother David Castle; and brother-in-law Edward J. Rzeszotarski. He is survived by his sister Sandra Castle Rzeszotarski.

Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ. Letters of condolence may be sent through the web at www.damianofuneralhome.com.
