Obituary for Irving "Mickey" Belin

Irving “Mickey” Belin, age 100 of Marathon, FL and formerly of Long Branch died peacefully November 14, 2018 at Hawthorne Village Healthcare in Sarasota, FL. Mr. Belin was born in New York City to the late Samuel and Dora Belin and lived in Long Branch before moving to Marathon 30 years ago. He was the owner and operator of New York Auto Company in West Long Branch and was a seasoned auto upholsterer. He served our Country honorably in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the Elks and Musicians Union. At the 1939 World’s Fair he won the Amateur Big Band competition and always loved playing his trumpet.

He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy F. Belin in 1994. Surviving are two sons and daughters in law Jack and Diane Belin of Tucson, AZ, Larry and Veronica Belin of Phoenixville, PA; two daughters and a son in law, Ann Belin of Horseshoe Bay, TX, Cheri and Ray Eshani of Bradenton, FL; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Friday, December 7; 10:00 am from the funeral home with a service to begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in West Long Branch.

There will also be a memorial service at the Marathon Community Methodist Church at 3010 Overseas Hwy, in Marathon, Fla. on Thursday, December 6 at 5:30 pm. lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
