Obituary for Joseph Anthony Pingitore

Joseph A. Pingitore, Sr., age 90 of Whiting and formerly of Long Branch, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2020. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 71 years, Patricia A Pingitore in 2019; his sister, Frances Salamone and two brothers, Russell and Robert; loving father of Donald Pingitore, Joseph Pingitore, Jr. and Beth Pingitore LaMarca; 9 grandchildren, Sarah Pingitore, Amy Marie Pingitore, Amanda Hosier, Joseph Pingitore, III, Julia Christiansen, Matthew LaMarca, Caroline LaMarca, Aaron Pingitore and Michael Pingitore and 10 great grandchildren, Nicholas Romanowsky, Jacob Schweichler, Jackson Romanowsky, Cooper Pingitore, Joseph Pingitore, IV, Madeline Christiansen, Frank Christiansen, Jack Pingitore, Lily Hosier and Molly Hosier.

Joseph retired after 38 years of service as an Operating Engineer with Monmouth Consolidated Water Company and served in the New Jersey National Guard. He was a founding member of the Five Point Buck Club in Whiting. He was also a charter member of the Englishtown Sportsman and long-time member of the Delaware Rod & Gun Club.

After retirement he was a New Jersey Division of Fish & Wildlife licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator for many years and was responsible for the survival of hundreds of orphaned deer fawns at his own expense.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3 from 4-7 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Tuesday; 9:30 am from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Michael’s Church in West End, Long Branch. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Long Branch. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made in Joseph’s name to the Popcorn Park Zoo, 1 Humane Way, Forked River, Lacey Township, N.J. 08731-5800.
