Anita I. Fusaro, 95, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025. Born on January 24, 1930, in Asbury Park, NJ, Anita lived a long life defined by compassion, faith, and creativity.
A proud graduate of Asbury Park High School and Monmouth University, Anita devoted her professional life to caring for others. As a dedicated nurse, she worked closely with Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Winders in Asbury Park, where she became not only a trusted caregiver but also a cherished friend to many of her patients.
Anita’s deep faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was an active member of both the Church of the Holy Innocents and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, where she found strength, community, and spiritual fulfillment. Her unwavering belief in service and kindness touched everyone she met.
In addition to her professional and spiritual life, Anita was a gifted artist. She found joy in drawing and crocheting, often creating thoughtful, handmade gifts for friends and family. Her creative spirit and sense of humor brought warmth to every gathering.
Anita is lovingly remembered by her son, Samuel Fusaro Jr., and his wife, Barbara; her cherished sister, Vivian Skidmore; and her beloved grandchildren, David Fusaro and his wife, Stephanie, and Jessica Staszewski and her husband, Timothy. She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren, Emily, Nathan, and Dylan, along with many treasured nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Samuel Fusaro Sr.; her parents, Rosario (“Sadie”) Catricala and Vincenzo (“Jimmy”) Imperato; and her dear siblings, Josephine and Vincent.
Visitation will be held from 9:15 a.m.to 10:15 am on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church, 3455 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune, NJ. Interment will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Neptune.
