1948 - 2024

Her compassionate loving heart, faith, and resilience
will continue to shine through the lives she touched. 

Carmela was born on May 3rd, 1948, in La Paz, Bolivia. She attended Maria Auxiliadora High School and did her secondary schooling at Incos Institute where she learned English and received vocational training as a secretary.  

On July 27th, 1968, she married Franz Estrada, and they embarked on the greatest adventure of all: parenthood. Carminia, Ximena, and Ivana were not just her daughters; but also her legacy. Carmela poured her heart and soul into raising them, prioritizing faith and family above all else. She was an inspiration and a role model who taught her daughters the power of compassion, love, faith, and unwavering resilience.

In 1993, Carmela took a leap of faith and traveled to the United States, a bold move that echoed her adventurous spirit. She inspired her daughters to dream big, to break barriers, and to chase their God-given callings.  She officially relocated to the USA in 2014, and her impact was immediate and profound whether at school, church, the senior center, or among family and friends. She was a cheerleader for everyone she met.

A devoted follower of Jesus, she started each day in prayer, her hands raised to heaven overseeing the city or the ocean.  Dinnertime was her sacred ritual, a time for family to gather, share our blessings, and engage in insightful discussions with the question of the day.  She faced life’s challenges with grace and strength, setting a powerful example for her daughters, never losing hope and encouraging others to do the same. Her compassionate heart and resilience shone through in everything she did and said.

She loved strolling along the beach boardwalk, exploring shops, watching musical concerts, and savoring every spoonful of ice cream.  She proudly became a US citizen and remained connected to her roots in Bolivia as well.  She always thought of and found ways to help the sick and poor homeless people.

Carmela’s journey on earth came to an end, she has fought the good fight, she has finished her race, she has kept the faith and she is now in paradise in the presence of Jesus Christ until we meet again.  She is preceded by her parents Guillermo Meneses and Salome Pomier, and her beloved younger brother Ramiro Meneses.  She leaves behind her beloved children Carminia, Ximena, Ivana, Dave, who will forever cherish her memory and the lessons of love, kindness, and strength she instilled in them; her husband Franz, grandchild Carla, brothers Nestor, Roberto, Javier Meneses; uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and extended family.

A Life of Love, Compassion, Laughter, Resilience, and Faith

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”-2 Timothy 4: 7-8

Jesus told her: 

 ~"I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.”  -John 11:25-26
~“I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise” - Luke 23:43

 

“When Jesus returns, God will bring back with Him those who sleep in Jesus… Then, together we will rise and be with the Lord for eternity.” - 1 Thessalonians  4:14-18

Su corazón compasivo, su  amor, fe, y resiliencia  
continuarán brillando a través de las vidas que tocó. 

 

Carmela nació el 3 de mayo de 1948 en La Paz, Bolivia. Asistió al Colegio María Auxiliadora y realizó sus estudios secundarios en el Instituto Incos, donde aprendió inglés y recibió formación profesional como secretaria.

El 27 de julio de 1968, se casó con Franz Estrada y se embarcaron en la mayor aventura de todas: la paternidad. Carminia, Ximena e Ivana no eran solo sus hijas; sino también su legado. Carmela puso su corazón y alma en criarlas, priorizando la fe y la familia por encima de todo. Ella era una inspiración y modelo a seguir que enseñó a sus hijas el poder de la compasión, el amor, la fe y la resiliencia inquebrantable.

En 1993, Carmela dio un salto de fe y viajó a los Estados Unidos, un movimiento audaz que reflejaba su espíritu aventurero. Inspiró a sus hijas a soñar en grande, a romper barreras y a perseguir los llamados que Dios les había dado. Se mudó oficialmente a los Estados Unidos en 2014, y su impacto fue inmediato y profundo. Ya sea en la escuela, la iglesia, el centro de ancianos o entre familiares y amigos. Era una animadora para todos los que conocía.

Una devota seguidora de Jesús, comenzaba cada día en oración, con las manos levantadas al cielo contemplando la ciudad o el océano. La hora de la cena era su ritual sagrado, un momento para que la familia se reuniera, compartiera sus bendiciones y participara en discusiones perspicaces con la pregunta del día. Enfrentó los desafíos de la vida con gracia y fuerza, dando un poderoso ejemplo a sus hijas, sin perder nunca la esperanza y animando a otros a hacer lo mismo. Su corazón compasivo y su resiliencia brillaban en todo lo que hacía y decía.

Le encantaba pasear por la pasarela de la playa, explorar tiendas, ver conciertos musicales y saborear cada cucharada de helado. Se convirtió con orgullo en ciudadana estadounidense y también se mantuvo conectada a sus raíces en Bolivia. Siempre pensó y encontró formas de ayudar a los enfermos y a los pobres sin hogar. 

 

El viaje de Carmela en la tierra llegó a su fin, ha peleado la buena batalla, ha terminado su carrera, ha guardado la fe y ahora está en el paraíso en presencia de Jesucristo hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Guillermo Meneses y Salomé Pomier, y su querido hermano menor, Ramiro Meneses. Deja atrás a sus queridos hijos Carminia, Ximena, Ivana, Dave, quienes siempre apreciarán su memoria y las lecciones de amor, bondad y fortaleza que les inculcó; su esposo Franz, su nieta Carla Amurrio, hermanos Javier, Roberto, Nestor Meneses; sobrino Luis entre otros sobrinos(as), tíos, primos, amigos y familiares.
