Catherina Madormo died peacefully on June 15, 2026. Kitty, to all who loved and knew her, was born in Coburg, Germany on July 23, 1951. As an infant Kitty moved to the United States and spent her early childhood in Hawaii which would remain a special time and a favorite destination. At the age of eight her family moved to Long Branch, New Jersey where she lived for most of her life. Kitty loved the beach and traveled extensively.
After graduating from Long Branch High School in 1969 where she was a varsity cheerleader, Kitty attended Seton Hall University earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Throughout her career, Kitty was involved in the treatment of nephrology patients. She began by providing direct patient care as a renal dialysis nurse and later worked in a variety of clinical administrative, research and marketing roles all with the goal of improving the care and quality of life for her patients.
Kitty will always be remembered as an intelligent, determined, generous, passionate and accomplished women with impeccable taste, a connoisseur of gourmet food and fine wine. She was a voracious reader and a fabulous cook. Kitty was a great friend and maintained close friendships throughout her life. She loved animals, especially her beloved Siberian huskies Sasha and Kai.
Kitty was predeceased by her mother Christa Eichner Merla and stepfather Dr. Gerard Merla. She is survived by her sisters Vera Moor and her husband John (Asbury Park) and Mary Merla-Ramos and her husband Deron (Interlaken) as well as her niece, Christa Moor and her husband Bill Clark (Wanamassa), niece Isabella Ramos and nephew Antonio Ramos (both Manhattan).
