Charles G. McLaughlin
Charles died peacefully at Jersey Shore Genesis Center on August 5 at the age of 92. The son of John J and Eleanor, he was born in Orange, NJ and lived in Bayville before moving to Long Branch many years ago. Charles was a graduate of Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange NJ and Seton Hall University, where he played baseball on a four year scholarship. He worked in the banking industry and was self employed for many years.
Always the life of the party, Charles was known for his tremendous sense of humor and outgoing personality. He was a devoted uncle attending many special events, religious occasions, and sporting activities for his 21 nieces and nephews. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants -now the San Francisco Giants. Charles was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael’s Parish in Long Branch.
Uncle Charles, or Charlie, will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Betty Ann Orme, Maureen O’Haire, Kathy Hoehn, Patty Wolf, Eileen Cohen, John Dyer, Eleanor MacMahon, Betsy Webers, John MacMahon, Colleen Mulligan, Tim MacMahon, Mary Jo Sweeney, Meghan Hass, Ginger Weatherston, Jimmy McLaughlin, Brian Mclaughlin, Renee DaSilva and Bobby McLaughlin. Cherished by 50 great nieces and nephews and 30 great-grands. He was predeceased by parents John and Eleanor (nee Kassinger) McLaughlin, sisters Elizabeth Dyer and Eleanor MacMahon and brothers John and Robert McLaughlin. Also predeceased by nieces Pamela McCarthy, Mary Beth Dentato and nephew Jay McLaughlin.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church in Long Branch on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 10am, Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
