Daniel "Danny" Anthony Mellaci Obituary

Daniel “Danny” Anthony Mellaci, age 30 of Wall Township, passed peacefully February 4th, 2021 at Jersey Shore Medical Center. Danny is survived by his wife Megan McGowan Mellaci; parents Hon. Anthony Mellaci, Jr. and Beth Mellaci; brothers, Matthew Mellaci and his wife Colleen Mellaci; Thomas Mellaci; sister, Taylor Mellaci; grandparents, Anthony and Sharon Mellaci; his father and mother in-law, Thomas and Janis McGowan; brother in-law, Timothy McGowan and his wife Heather Kissinger; and many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. Danny was a Firefighter for West Long Branch, Long Branch, Wayside, Howell, EMT, Tele-Communications Operator for the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department, and Fire Investigator for Manasquan Fire District.

Danny was a loving husband, son, brother, grandson and friend. You could always find him at a Giants tailgate, watching the Yankees, enjoying a day in the ocean, sitting by a fire, tasting a craft beer or fine bourbon. Danny was a fighter; he bravely faced his diagnosis of ALS and chose to live every moment to its fullest. Danny chose to do so much good with his life. In his final hours, he continued to do so by being an organ donor and giving the gift of life to save others. Danny leaves behind a legacy of love.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately due to COVID restrictions on Saturday, February 13 at 12 noon at St. Michael’s Church, 800 Ocean Avenue in Long Branch with Fire Department Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Joan Dancy and PALS (People with ALS) Foundation, P.O. Box 8157, Red Bank NJ 07701 or  http://joandancyandpals.org.
