Doris K. McKenna

Doris K. McKenna, age 87, of Ocean Township, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at home.  She was born in New York, and raised her family in Brooklyn.  Doris was an Administrative Assistant for St. Vincent Home for Boys in Brooklyn for many years. In 1990, she moved to Florida to be close with her son & his family. She enjoyed all the time she had to spend after school with her grandkids, Jessica and Tommy. When she moved to Florida, she worked for West Boca Medical Center before retiring then came to Ocean Township 21 years ago to help raise her grandkids. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s R.C. Church in West End Long Branch, an avid reader and became a "soccer mom" at 70 years old running her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Michael, around to practices.  Doris was blessed to have spent many vacations with Katherine & Shawn (grandchildren) and would love to visit them often in Maryland. Doris' most important thing in life was her family.

She was predeceased by her daughter Patricia McKenna, and grandson Tommy McKenna. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Nidia McKenna; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Paul Durso; 5 grandchildren, Jessica Heistand, Katherine Schlosser, Shawn Saiya, Kaitlyn Durso and Michael Durso and 3 great grandchildren, Victoria Heistand, Jessalyn Heistand and Dylan Schlosser.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch followed by a 12:30 pm Mass St. Michael’s Church in West End. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, Maryland.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
