Mother Hattie Lue Huff was born Hattie Lue Stewart on January 5, 1946 in Starkville, Mississippi to Otis and Hattie B Stewart. She attended Starkville public school through graduation. In 1967 Hattie moved to Asbury Park. She worked at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital for a several years and later moved to Long Branch and worked at the Whittmer House. 

In 1975 Hattie re-dedicated her life to Christ and became a member of Greater Refreshing Spring Holy Temple COGIC (formerly Holy Temple COGIC). Mother Huff, as she was affectionately called, was a dedicated, faithful member who loved the Lord, studied his word and was an avid prayer warrior. She was saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. She lived her life to be pleasing in the sight of God. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 121. She also loved Proverbs 3:5.

Mother Hattie Huff departed this life on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick after suffering 2 strokes. She was predeceased in life by her parents, Hattie & Otis, her brothers Lucious and Willie Stewart, and grandson Ryan.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her son Joe Huff Jr (Valerie), daughter Patrice Huff, adopted son James Henry Moore-Huff, step-son Michael Huff (Linda), sister Margaret Gandy, brothers Johnny Stewart (Bea) and Joe Louis Stewart; her best friend, Anne E. Schwartz; 11 grandchildren, Joe Huff III, Michael Huff (Natalie), Precious, Harold, Nahdirah (Aaron), Steven, Patrece, Andrew, Corey, Kyle and Kevin; 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces & nephews and her church family.

Visitation will be held at the Long Branch Church of God, 200-206 Garfield Avenue in Long Branch on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery in Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Feed the Children, 333 North Meridian Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73107.
