Hope Finnerty, age 65 of Long Branch, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Born and raised in Shore Acres, Staten Island, NY she relocated to Long Branch in 2017.
Hope attended St. Mary's Grammar School in Rosebank and then went on to St. Joseph by the Sea High School. Additionally she was a graduate from New York State University at Canton, NY, where she received a degree in Business.
The majority of her career though she was a nurses’ aide which consisted of attending to patients in the hospital and in home settings. She was employed by various agencies and also worked as a private duty attendant. Of course, all her patients and their families looked forward to her smile and compassion.
Hope was always up for a party, especially at her cousin's annual St. Paddy's Day celebration. She knew how to work a room and her quick sense of humor was well known and endearing. Most recently you may have spotted her walking along the boardwalk with her pink hat, coffee and scratch offs. Hope will always be remembered in our hearts as a dear sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend.
Hope was predeceased by her parents Jane Marjorie (Stapleton) and Kenneth Robert Finnerty and her sister, Mary Anne Finnerty McKee. She is survived by her siblings, Janet (Thomas) Noordzy, John Finnerty, Lawrence Finnerty, Michele (Brett) Miller and Kevin Finnerty. Also surviving are her aunts and uncle; many nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 11 am at St. Michael’s Church, 800 Ocean Avenue in West End, Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Michael’s Church, 800 Ocean Ave., Long Branch, NJ 07740.
