Jamie Sussel Turner

Jamie Sussel Turner, 69, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Care One – Holmdel on November 24 after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Jamie loved life and took joy from everything she did, and with all those she encountered.  She was born and raised in Villanova, PA then moved to Colonia, NJ to raise her family. Upon her appointment to principal of Viola Sickles School in Fair Haven, she moved to Sea Bright in 2001.

As a lifelong learner, Jamie excelled throughout her career in public education as a teacher, teacher-trainer in mathematics for the New Jersey Department of Education, supervisor of mathematics in Millburn, NJ and then as principal in Fair Haven.  Her love of children not only contributed to her effectiveness as an educator but also resulted in longstanding relationships with students, their families, and her teachers.  Following her retirement from public education in 2009, Jamie built a very successful career as a personal coach for both individuals and businesses. From her work with clients, the realm of stress became her focus and she consequently branded herself as the “Less Stress Coach”.  To share her experience and insights with others, she also became an award-winning author, publishing Less Stress Business (2014), Less Stress Life (2019), and a children’s book on the theme of stress entitled Jittery Jenny (2021).

Jamie is survived by her loving husband Wayne; her sons Joshua Horowitz of Garwood, NJ and Adam Horowitz and his wife Arame of Bayonne, NJ; sisters Laura Lurie and her husband Glenn of Lawrenceville, NJ along with their sons Daniel and Jacob, and Andrea Sussel of Hilo, HI and her son Tobias; along with all of her grandchildren whom she absolutely adored: Jillian, Amy, Maeve, Niko, Cal and Owen.
