Jonathan Francis Dorosz, known affectionately to many as Big Jon, passed away on April 2, 2026, in Long Branch, New Jersey, at the age of 57. Born on August 15, 1968, in Arizona, he lived a life marked by faith, a deep love for the people God placed around him, and a gift for bringing laughter wherever he went. He was a loving, funny, and spirited man whose presence could brighten a room, and whose memory will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew him.
A man of profound faith, Jon walked closely with the Lord and found great joy in sharing the Word of God. His faith wasn’t just a Sunday service; it was woven into his everyday life, carried with a sincerity that touched many hearts. He lived by the principles of grace and mercy, finding strength in the hope of eternal life.
Professionally, Jon was a talented contractor and a true "jack of all trades." He was the kind of man who could fix just about anything, often with a tool in one hand and a joke in the other. He took pride in his work, approaching every task with a practical wisdom born of experience. While he worked with his hands, he truly led with his heart.
From an early age, Jon felt a deep connection to the ocean. He held fond memories of days spent by the beach with his best friends, finding a unique peace in the water that spoke to his spirit. He cherished these simple gifts of life, but more than anything, he cherished his family.
Jon loved his children—Jillian, Jonathan, Kaitlyn, and Cara Dorosz—with a father’s heart that was steady, proud, and full of love. He now joins his mother, Anne Dorosz, who preceded him in death, and leaves behind a lasting bond with his sister, Diana Miller. To Jon, family was the foundation that made life rich and meaningful.
Above all, Jon will be remembered as a comedian at heart. His goofy nature and contagious laughter could turn the most ordinary moments into cherished memories. He had a gift for finding humor even in difficult times, using it to lift others up and reminding everyone not to take life too seriously.
Those who knew Jon will remember his loving heart, his funny spirit, and the way he carried himself with a blend of faith and humor that was uniquely his own. He lived with honesty, warmth, and a sense of purpose that reflected his Christian values. Though he will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of the Lord he loved and served. His life was a blessing, his laughter was a gift, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Hope Presbyterian Church 1189 Hope Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07724 at 7 PM
