Karen Long Obituary
Karen Lois Long, age 82, died peacefully at her home of 42 years in Oceanport on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Born in Whittier, CA, she moved to Oceanport at age 4. She attended Long Branch High School and graduated in 1958.
Karen was predeceased by her parents, Alf Hjembo (1984) and Rose Hjembo (1986); her husband, John Long (2005); and her companion Richard Joline (2020). Surviving are her son, Evan Meyer, and her three grandchildren, Ryan, Maile, and Alexandra in Danville, CA; her stepdaughter Kelly Long in Albany, NY; her sister Janet Surak and her husband Asa in Oceanport; her brother Erick Hjembo and his wife Carolyn in Langhorne, PA; and three nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Saturday; 9:30 AM at the funeral home with the service to begin at 10:00 AM. Immediately following, entombment will be at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport.
