Leda Maria Suero

Leda Maria Suero, age 93, passed away peacefully in her home in Eatontown, N.J.  on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 surrounded by those who loved her.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Leda migrated to the U.S. in the early 50's and like so many immigrants before her, she too, searched for a better life in the U.S. She raised her family of three here and although attempts was made to relocate the family back to D.R. it didn't quite work. She loved the U.S. and never returned to D.R. again, not even to vacation.`

Leda's youngest child bequeathed her with a special nickname Piolin. (pronounced Pee-O-Leen) and it means "Tweety Bird" in Spanish. Because that's what she was.  Sweet, warm and quite lovable. Those that knew her grew to love her. She was generous beyond measure. 

She wore a beautiful smile that touched humans, canines and felines alike. She touched the lives of many. Leda had a passion for animals and supported the SPCA in their mission to protect and care for animals in need. Additionally, she believed in the importance of medical research and contributed to the St. Jude Research Foundation. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 22nd, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm at Damiano Funeral Home located at 191 Franklin Ave, Long Branch, NJ 07740.  The committal services will take place on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 11am at Woodbine Mausoleum located at 1173 Eatontown Blvd, Oceanport, NJ 07757.

In memory of Leda Maria Suero, contributions can be made to the SPCA or St. Jude Research Foundation to support the causes she held dear to her heart.
