Louis Patrick Matto, Jr. Obituary

Barnegat, NJ - Louis Patrick Matto, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023, in Barnegat, NJ. He was born on May 15, 1945, in Newark, NJ, to the late Viola and Louis Patrick Matto, Sr.

Louis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Concetta "Connie" Matto. He is survived by his loving daughter, Lisa Marie Matto-Martin, and her husband Anthony Martin, his sons Louis P. Matto, III and his partner Karen Juliano, and Joseph R. Matto, and his wife, Allison McCabe Matto. He will be fondly remembered by his adoring grandchildren, Alyssa Martin and her partner Rebecca Mickus, Alexandria Matto, Louis P. Matto IV, Grace Matto, and Emily Matto. He will also be missed by his longtime companion, Joy D'Aniello.

Louis attended Baringer High School in Newark, NJ. Following his education, he proudly served in the US Navy from 1965 to 1967. After his military service, Louis began a successful career with Verizon, where he dedicated 30 years of his life. He was a board member of the Monmouth Ocean Telephone Credit Union in Manasquan, New Jersey for many years. He retired in 2002.

Over the years, Louis has been an active member of the Monmouth Beach Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Long Branch Elks Lodge. He also enjoyed coaching neighborhood soccer teams and spending quality time with his loved ones. Louis found joy in playing cards with friends, reading, watching baseball, and cherishing moments with his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Thursday, August 31, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Damiano Funeral Home in Long Branch, NJ. A Mass will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach, NJ. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Louis's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence by selecting the Tribute/Guestbook link above.
