Manuel "Manny" Maldonado, aged 80, passed away on September 30, 2025, in Long Branch, New Jersey. Born on June 29, 1945, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Manny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a loyal friend known for his kind heart and hardworking nature.
Manny served honorably in the National Guard for 13 years, dedicating himself to the values of duty and community service. His commitment to his country was paralleled by his 30-year career as a truck driver for the City of Long Branch, where he was respected for his reliability and strong work ethic.
Beyond his professional life, Manny was passionate about his hobbies. In his earlier years, he was a little league baseball coach, a role through which he touched many young lives and fostered lasting friendships. Later in life, he enjoyed simpler pleasures such as sitting on his porch talking with neighbors, bird watching, and whittling wood. Manny also cherished riding his Harley and was often seen enjoying an occasional cigar, which brought a sense of peace and contentment to his retirement years.
Manny is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; sons Noel John, Jason, Joshua, and Jacob, along with their wives Juliana, Sara, Melissa, and Lauren; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss his presence and guidance.
A gathering to honor Manny's life will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue, Long Branch, NJ from 5 - 8 pm. Interment will be held on Thursday, Oct 23, 2025, at Woodbine Mausoleum at 10 am.
