Maria Maddalena Grandinetti, formerly of West Long Branch, NJ, passed away on April 9, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving and kind woman whose life was marked by her family, her faith and quiet strength. Born in Andretta, Italy on February 5, 1949, she came to the United States in 1960 and settled in Long Branch, NJ.

Maria was a graduate of Long Branch Highschool and pursued courses at both Monmouth College and Brookdale Community College. She served as a Patient Care Assistant at Monmouth Medical Center until her retirement, where her gentle nature and caring presence brought comfort to many. She also worked for many years as a local Real Estate Agent in West Long Branch. Following her retirement, Maria remained active and generous with her time by volunteering at the Long Branch Public Library and serving as a teacher’s aide at local elementary schools.

Maria took great pleasure in creating a warm and welcoming home. She found joy in cooking, reading, listening to music, and spending time in the garden. She treasured time spent with her family above all else, and she was active in her church, where her faith was a guiding light and a source of strength.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Peter; daughter, Gina Grandinetti Woodworth; brother, Dr. Nick DiGuglielmo; and grandchildren, Peter Woodworth and Stella Swoger. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dr. Lisa Grandinetti. 

Maria will be deeply missed and remembered with love and abiding respect. Her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, family, and service, and her memory will remain a treasured blessing to all who knew and loved her.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Holy Trinity Church of Christ the King Parish in Long Branch, NJ at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery and Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Inova Schar Cancer Center 8081 Innovation Park Road, Falls Church, VA 22042 to help families going through treatment.
