Maria Jose Vieira Espanhol Gomes

Maria Jose Vieira Espanhol Gomes passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born in Abrantes, Portugal on January 3, 1939 to Benjamim and Custodia Espanhol.

Maria was a Radiology Technician in Portugal prior to moving her family to the United States in 1985. She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Abel Gomes. She was a loving and devoted mother to Maria Da Luz Carvalho, Lurdes Silva, Ana Samudio, Jack Gomes, Rosa Frazao, Leandro Gomes and Sergio Gomes. Her legacy also includes 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. 

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 5 pm until the funeral service at 6:30 pm at Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. 

For the safety of all, face coverings are required to be worn inside the funeral home.
