Mary Ann McKenzie

Mary Ann McKenzie, age 80, passed away on June 11, 2023, in Neptune, NJ. Mary Ann was born on December 12, 1942, in Manhattan, NY to John Walter McKenzie Sr. and Josephine McKenzie. She attended Saint John's Chrysostom in Bronx, NY for her primary education and later graduated from The Thorp Secretarial School in New York, NY.

Mary Ann began her career at Shearson Lehman Brothers and Coldwell Banker Real Estate before working at Morgan Stanley in the insurance division as an assistant to an insurance analyst. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee who always put her best foot forward.

Mary Ann was a devout member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. She found great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as her many friends from church and her community in Long Branch. Mary Ann was the president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was always volunteering her time helping people in need in her community. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, and gardening. She also enjoyed playing Rummikub or 500 Rummi with her family.

Mary Ann is survived by her brother John W. McKenzie Jr and wife Paula McKenzie, her children, daughter Lana and husband John Romano, daughter Doreen Serpico, and son Anthony Serpico and wife Filomena Castronovo, and her grandchildren Alexa Fitzgerald, Joseph Seripco, Nicole Romano, Brittany Romano, Azalia Whitlock, Giana Simonelli, Sam Lobel, and Madison Whitlock. She was preceded in death by her father John Walter McKenzie Sr. and her mother Josephine McKenzie.

Visitation will be held at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch on Friday, June 16th from 4 - 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17 at 10:30am at Holy Trinity Church of Christ the King Parish in Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.

Per Mary Ann’s request please wear white or light colors to the services. Mary Ann did not want anyone wearing black as this is a celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society of Christ the King Parish at 101 Chelsea Avenue (Rear), Long Branch NJ 07740.
