Mary Theresa Sheerin

Mary Theresa Sheerin passed away on November 18, 2022. Mary was born in Bronx, NY in 1940. She was a twin and the 4th child of her parents, William and Julia. She was the proud mother of 8 children. Despite her large family, Mary made time for everyone, providing support and love to all who knew her.

Mary attended St. Jerome Catholic School in the Bronx and spent her early life in NYC. After marrying John Sheerin in 1964, Mary raised her first 2 children in the Bronx and later moved to Englishtown, NJ. Several children and a few jobs later, Mary and her family moved to Carteret, NJ. There, Mary worked for Kinder-Morgan for 25 years, retiring to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to be close to her brothers and sister. In Myrtle Beach she volunteered for several social and women’s groups and enjoyed her job at the information booth in the Myrtle Beach Airport.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, attending nearly 25 consecutive years of her children’s sporting events, crafting and baking. She truly enjoyed entertaining and making guests feel like they were part of her family.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, William Browne and Julia Browne (Kelly) and her brother, John Browne. She is survived by her twin sister, Patricia Cottrell, her brother William Browne, her ex-husband John Sheerin, her children Michael and Selina, Maureen and Christopher Ragusa, Sean and Susan Sheerin, Kathleen Sheerin, Erin and William Craver, Colleen and Andy Prince, Brian Sheerin and Richard and Sabrina Sheerin. Mary is also survived by 9 grandchildren, whom she loved and adored.

There will be a memorial gathering for Mary on Tuesday November 22, 2022 from 4pm until the time of the service at 6:30pm at Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, Long Branch, NJ. For those cannot attend there will be a virtual service beginning at 6:30pm.
