Mildred LaSpino Obituary

Mildred Arlene Buono LaSpino

Transitioned with the same independence and Grace that lifted her through 95 years of life. Widowed young but never alone, Millie was a lifelong resident of Long Branch who raised her four children in her in-laws home. Millie passed on at home, with her children at her side-much the way she wanted.

Millie was a Broadway business owner running a Print shop and 5 & Dime in the days before the shopping malls. She was a believer in people and strongly believed in helping others. Millie was the last living member of her nine siblings. Her love and support for family, including eight grandchildren and three great grands! will live on.

Millie was a selfless, tiny Giant, quietly leading by example. Her Civic pledge found home in many socially helpful organizations; She contributed years to DEBORAH HEART & LUNG, tireless soliciting funds and deriving meetings and platforms of support - eventually completing every circle of the coveted diamond pendant! The WOMENS CLUB where she held every position on the way to President and her beloved ELKS that she joined with her husband, Joseph and there continued on with the support of dear friends, eventually holding many offices on way to President of Ladies Auxiliary. For many years, Millie cooked and served at the SENIOR CENTER until her body would no longer serve her intentions.

Millie must always be remembered as the supporter of the Under Dog! ...perhaps beyond sensible commitment. In Millie's heart, it seems the neediest became the most important and her energy, time and resources become fluid for those with need. Like many of her period, Millie provided much for many, and did not worry for herself.

Millie's Spirit will remain a light for many shining brightly for those she has known and loved including her children: Carolann and son in law Leonard Thomas and grandchildren Erica and Troy Lundberg; Diann and son in law Martin Sauble and grandchildren Dawn, Christina and Dina with great grandchildren Mia and Ariel; Joanne Testa and partner Dr. Gordon Donald and grandchildren Danielle Basile and Dennis Testa and new great grandchild - Tyler (that Millie held and loved in hand) and Joseph LaSpino and wife Britton McLennan with granddaughter Alexandra.

Millie was predeceased by her siblings: John, Frankie, Tony, Carl and Angelo Buono and baby Michael, Rose Etoll, Louise Raviell, and Lena Cagno.

Interment will be private at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Long Branch. The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence at www.damianofuneralhome.com.
