Minnie Zaccaria, 95 of Middletown, died on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Born and raised in Long Branch, she lived at Arbor Terrace in Middletown for the past 2 years. She worked as a secretary at Fort Monmouth and later as a financial representative at Monmouth Medical Center for over 20 years.
Minnie was a Master Gardener, and a member of the Oceanport Garden Club. She was a seven-time NJ state tomato growing champion and holds the record for the largest tomato grown in NJ (over 6 pounds) called the Big Zac—A hybrid that she developed.
Minnie was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Paul and 2 brothers, Raymond DeBiase and Robert DeBiase. Surviving are her children Eve Catalano, Paul Zaccaria and his fiancée Christine Higgins; Dr. Alan and his wife Laura Zaccaria, Steven and his wife Melinda Zaccaria; her grandchildren Nicole and her husband Xavier, Richie, Paulie and his wife Diane, Christopher and his wife Helen, Thomas, Benjamin, Bethany, Susan; and her great grandchildren Alexander, Adriana and Anderson.
Visitation will be Friday, April 23, 2021 from 11 am until the time of the service at 1:30 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave in Long Branch. The service will be live streamed. Interment will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Long Branch.
