Nidia Da Silva Vieira, a remarkable soul, 81, of Long Branch, NJ, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2024. Born in the quaint village of Lapa Furada, Portugal, on January 10, 1943, she embarked on a journey of resilience and grace. In June 1971, Nidia and her family immigrated to Long Branch, NJ, where she seamlessly wove the threads of her life into her family's legacy.

A pillar of strength and a paragon of hard work, Nidia confronted life's challenges with unwavering resilience. Her sharp sense of humor, though not for the faint of heart, added a distinctive charm to her character, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to share in her laughter and presence.

Nidia's dedication to her family was unparalleled. As a lifelong seamstress, she crafted a legacy of meticulous work as a proud member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union, Local 85 of NJ, and Local 130 of Monmouth County. Her passion for sewing was manifested in her creations throughout her esteemed career.

Survived by her loving children: Jutilia Wilson, Luis Vieira, and Salina Vieira Neuhaus; sons-in-law: Tom Wilson and Brian K Neuhaus; daughter-in-law Elaine Vieira; grandchildren: John Thomas Wilson III, Joanne Wilson, Isabelle Wilson, Chaeli Vieira, Jillian Vieira, TJ Vieira, Hayden Bela Neuhaus, and Gavin Perry Neuhaus. Nidia is also survived by her brother Vitorino Silva, sister Lucilia Silvestre, brother Eduardo Silva, and brother Bernardino Silva.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Laurentino Bela Vieira, and her parents, Maria Da Silva Laranjeiro and Emidio Carreira Da Silva, Nidia's memory will forever be held dear by all who were touched by her love.

In her leisure time, Nidia found joy in cooking, shopping, playing with the family dogs, and savoring moments with her loved ones, especially her cherished grandchildren. A devout Catholic, Nidia regularly attended Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Long Branch, where her faith brought solace and strength.

Nidia Da Silva Vieira will be remembered as a woman of formidable strength, resilience, and wit. Her unwavering spirit and dedication to family will endure in the hearts and memories of those fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Sunday, February 4th, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Damiano Funeral Home, located at 191 Franklin Ave in Long Branch. The funeral mass will be a poignant celebration of Nidia's life at Our Lady Star Of The Sea, located at 101 Chelsea Avenue in Long Branch, on Monday, February 5th, at 11:00 am.
