Nora “Nanny” Cetroni, age 91, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Community Hospital in Toms River. Nora was the last born to the late Elmer “Boss” and Beulah Ball in Centerville, PA. She was raised in Fredericktown, PA with her siblings and eventually moved to Staten Island, Eatontown and Brick. In 2017 she moved to Palymra, NY to be with her with her daughter and son in law Denise and Barry Nash. She loved her time with them and they lovingly took great care of her. In July 2020 Nanny came back to New Jersey and lived with her granddaughter Nora and her husband Edmund in Forked River. She enjoyed living there and loved to sit on the patio overlooking the bay doing her daily scratch offs, watching her soap opera, Days and her game shows.
If you were to ask Nora what she did for a living, she was proud to say “I drove a school bus; not the small bus, “the BIG” bus”. She enjoyed over 20 years as a school bus driver at Lakewood Prep School in Howell. Driving her kids to and from was a dream job to her. She loved children, and loved all those she picked up and dropped off daily. Nora drove her bus just into her 80th birthday.
She was an avid bowler and bowled most of her life. While living in NY, she would bowl with her daughter Denise (well into her 80’s). Some things she just couldn’t give up and bowling was one of them. Above all however was the love for her family. She loved her daughters and grandchildren, but if you were to ask her, it was her great grandchildren who were her breath of life. They were her pride and joy. The many memories made will be cherished forever and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her daughter Noreen Hulit in 2005 and her siblings John, Clarence, Leonard, Jerry, Paul and Dora. Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Denise and Barry Nash of Palmyra, NY; her grandchildren, Dee Strollo and her companion Christopher Manno of Hazlet, Melissa Southard and her husband Jim of Eastampton; Nora Casella and her husband Edmund of Forked River; Guy Lafage and his wife Lana of Pt. Pleasant Boro, Michelle Barretta and husband Guy of Scotch Plains; her son in law, William Hulit of Forked River; grandson Keith and his wife Nancy; her beloved great grandchildren, Jennifer Harmon, Brenna Strollo, Cheyenne Lafage, Olivia Melanson, Kyra Lafage, Marco Barretta and Luca Barretta and her step great grandchildren, Melanie, Matt and Danny Southard and Jimmy Gnatowsky.
All services are private. Interment of cremains will be with her parents in Fredericktown, PA in the near future. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O.
