Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Spina, a loving wife, selfless mother and playful grandmother, who died peacefully in her Eatontown, NJ home.

Born to Francis and Catherine Guy in Brooklyn, NY on January 6, 1950, Pat was a devout Catholic who will be remembered for her compassion, generosity and lovely smile. In 1971 she married Chuck Spina, and later relocated to New Jersey where she would raise and become a hero to her four children. For them, she persevered in every way, working tirelessly and twice continuing her education to ensure that all of her family’s needs were met.

On December 26, 2004, Pat married Clifford “Kip” Bebout, III in what could be described as both a blessing and a reward. Together, they enjoyed watching period crime dramas, making annual trips to Gettysburg, PA and spoiling their grandchildren with tons of toys and fun experiences. Kip would also be Pat’s unwavering partner in her 20-year battle with a rare and recurring sarcoma, regularly escorting her to Memorial Sloan Kettering for scans, treatments and surgeries.

A fiercely modest woman, Pat would not want to be characterized by her illness nor have attention drawn to her in any way; indeed, even these words may elicit a heavenly eye roll. But in celebration of her life, it must be noted that everyone she encountered, from loved ones to professional acquaintances, cherished her ability to put you at ease, be it through the lending of her hand, a heartfelt pep talk, or a bacon egg and cheese sandwich.

Pat is predeceased by her parents and her sister Cathleen Callan. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kip (Eatontown, NJ); sister Maryellen Monzon (Parlin, NJ); children: Frank Spina and his wife, Sonia (Asbury Park, NJ), Lauren Spina (Monmouth Beach, NJ), Peter Spina (Long Branch, NJ), and Charles Spina (Eatontown, NJ); step-children: Cliff Bebout (Oceanport, NJ), Frank Bebout (Eatontown, NJ), Greg Bebout and his wife, Nicole (West Long Branch, NJ), Meggan Bebout (Oceanport, NJ), Dallas Bebout (Dover, DE) and Jennifer Farrah (Eatontown, NJ); and her grandchildren: Cadence Bebout, London Bebout, Beckham Bebout, Taitum Bebout, Teaggan Bebout, Presley Bebout, Payton Bebout, Harper Bebout, Archie Spina, Hudson Bebout and Kenzi Bebout.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, January 17th from 5-8PM at Damiano Funeral Home in Long Branch. A funeral mass in Pat’s honor at St. Dorothea’s Church in Eatontown, NJ at 10:30AM Tuesday, followed by entombment at Woodbine Cemetery & Mausoleum in Oceanport, NJ. All guests are kindly requested to wear masks to protect those at greater risk.

A celebration of life repast will be held at a future date. All expressions of sympathy and remembrance are welcome, but in lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 5028, Hagerstown, MD 21741. The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence by selecting the Tribute/Guestbook link above.
