Paul Armand Tallard, 97, of Lowell, MA, passed away on July 3, 2023, in Edison, New Jersey. Born on January 30, 1926, Paul was known for his kind and generous nature, outgoing personality, and sense of humor. He was a loving and proud individual who always approached life with enthusiasm and honesty.
Paul is survived by his children and their spouses Mark and Mitae Tallard of Tinton Falls, Steven and Marie Tallard of Freehold, Gary Tallard of Tinton Falls and Babette and Dean Marchetti of Glen Mills, PA. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren Jennifer Satten, Kimberly Dean, Tiffany DiCampli, Nicholas Marchetti, Katelyn Frometa, Samantha Tallard, and Megan Tallard, along with his great-grandchildren Isabella, Emily, Carter, and Francesca. Paul is also survived by his sister-in-law Trudy Stayton and his nephew and nieces, Jeffery, Michelle, and Nicole, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years Maria, his mother Eva, his father Henry, his brothers Arthur and Bob, and his sisters Trudy and Irene.
Paul proudly served in the US Army from 1945 to 1966, with various military associations including the Infantry Battalion Sergeant Major 2nd Infantry Division in Korea from 1953 to 1954. He also served as the Sergeant Major First Logistical Command in Fort Bragg, NC, from 1954 to 1956, as well as the Sergeant Major Berlin Command in 1959-1960. Additionally, he was a Senior Tactics Instructor in Fort Jackson, SC, from 1957 to 1958. Among his many citations were the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Medal, and Korean Service Medal. After retiring from the military, Paul worked for the US Postal Service, the US Department of Defense Security Police, and enjoyed a successful 25-year career as an Insurance Investigator and Adjuster for American Hardware Mutual Company.
Paul worshipped at Fort Monmouth Post Chapel and Saint Dorothea's Roman Catholic Church in Eatontown. While his biggest joy was being with his Grandchildren, he also found pleasure in various hobbies, including being a handyman, bowling three nights a week well into his 80s, participating in the Church Choir, being an active member of the VFW and volunteering at the USMA Prep School. He also dedicated much of his time and skills to the Post Chapel, where he volunteered for various activities, such as picnics, bible school, building and fixing anything that needed to be done, acting in the Living Last Supper, as well as accompanying CCD students on the bus. Let us not forgot what Paul is most known for; how passionately he supported his Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox. If he didn't have a Veteran hat on it was a Red Sox hat.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm at Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch followed by a 1:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial at Church of Saint Dorothea, Broad Street, Eatontown.
