Philip Colombrita age 86 of Tinton Falls died on Thursday June 2, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. He attended Vailsburg High School in Newark. After high school he went into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. After the military he settled down in Irvington and worked for Pabst Brewing Company. He moved to Carteret and was employed by FMI International located in Carteret as a warehouse supervisor.
When he retired he moved to Tinton Falls where he currently resided. He was a little league coach for both Irvington and Carteret. He rooted for his Yankees and Giants whenever they were playing. He also played fantasy football for many years. Philip was a proud Italian American who loved food and talked about it night and day. He loved playing craps and the slots in Atlantic City and in Las Vegas. He loved to travel and go on cruises with his family. To him family was everything and having Sunday dinner with them meant the world. He was from the old school and taught his family about respect and always being there for one another. Philip had a one of kind personality and left an impact to many people throughout his life. He was down to earth and never forgot where he came from. If he had a few words left to say he would ask what are we eating.
Philip was predeceased by his father and mother Orazio and Josephine Colombrita; his six sisters that he adored Gracie, Tilly, Marion, Dolly, Rosie and Buddy and his beloved brother Edward. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years Kathleen Colombrita; his four children daughter Lori Desaye and his three sons Joseph Colombrita, Christopher Colombrita and Philip Colombrita; his two beautiful grandchildren who lit up his world Mikala Desaye and Isabella Colombrita; his brother Morris “Sonny”; his two brothers in laws Chris and William; his fur baby Marley and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. Funeral Wednesday 9 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass at Star of the Sea Church.
