Rev. P. Susan Mamchak Obituary

Rev. P. Susan Mamchak lived a full, others-focused life anchored in Jesus, shaped by decades of faithful service, and shared for 52 years with her husband, Steve. Their marriage wasn’t just long; it was steady, intentional, and deeply rooted in Christ. Together, they built a life that consistently made room for other people and for the work of Jesus in their community. Sue co-authored over 20 books alongside Steve. Their writing reflected a shared calling: to communicate truth, encourage people, and develop minds & hearts.

Sue was born on January 6, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed peacefully on March 21, 2026, in Long Branch, New Jersey.

Sue didn’t just believe in serving people, she organized her life around it. In 1988, she earned her New Jersey Teaching Certificate and spent years teaching and tutoring. She had a patient, steady way about her, never rushed, never dismissive. She saw people clearly, especially those others overlooked, and helped them grow in confidence, competency and character. For Sue, teaching wasn’t about information, it was about helping people grow into their potential.

That same instinct showed up on a larger scale when she founded Shore Food Rescue, formerly Ezekiel’s Wheel of Long Branch. She saw a gap: people without reliable access to food and stepped in. She didn’t just raise awareness; she built something that worked. Meals delivered. Needs met. People cared for. It was the kind of ministry that reflected the heart of Jesus in practical, tangible ways. When she found hungry people, she didn’t just pray: she fed them.

Sue also faithfully served across the Long Branch community—through W.L.B. First Aid, the Monmouth County Housing Coalition, Long Branch Police Clergy, and Monmouth Medical Center Clergy. These weren’t titles to her, they were assignments. Places to show up, love people, and represent Jesus with consistency and compassion.

For over 30 years, Sue helped bring church dramas to life at Shrewsbury First Assembly, serving as stage manager. Behind the scenes, she gave structure, direction, and stability helping communicate the message of Jesus in creative, impactful ways. She didn’t need the spotlight to make a difference she made things work so the message could be seen clearly. Sue always elevated other.

Sue also ministered the Gospel regularly, guest preaching in and around Long Branch churches for decades. She handled Scripture with care and spoke about Jesus with clarity and conviction of someone who knew Him intimately. She wasn’t interested in being impressive she wanted people to understand who Jesus is and why He matters.

At the center of it all was her relationship with Jesus. Sue didn’t just believe in Him she followed Him. She trusted His Word, depended on His grace, and lived with the quiet confidence that comes from knowing her life was in His hands. When people were hurting, she pointed them to Jesus. When needs arose, she responded like Jesus would practically, personally, and without hesitation.

She also genuinely loved people. Sue enjoyed conversation, time with friends, and the simple moments that build real relationships. She paid attention. She remembered details. She made people feel seen, because she saw them the way Jesus does.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, as well as close friends Ingrid and Arnie people she loved deeply and carried with her. While she had no physical children, her spiritual kids and grandkids are too numerous to name.

Those who knew Sue won’t just remember what she believed they’ll remember what she built, how she served, and how she showed up. She lived her life pointing to Jesus through her words, her work, and her presence. We mourn, but with hope knowing, now she is in the presence of God, reunited with her love, Steve.
