Rita A. Erving Obituary
Rita Erving, known lovingly to family and friends as Rita, lived a life that reflected strength, kindness, and a spirit that encouraged others to keep moving forward with hope. Born on June 15, 1952, in Neptune, Rita carried the warmth of her beginnings with her throughout her life. She lived with a steady heart and a bright sense of humor that could lift a room and remind others that even in difficult moments, there is still reason to smile. She was the kind of woman who made people feel seen, heard, and valued, and her presence left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Rita passed away on May 2, 2026, in Long Branch, leaving behind cherished memories that will continue to inspire those who loved her. Her life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and the power of choosing joy. She showed through her actions that a generous spirit is one of the greatest gifts a person can offer, and she gave that gift freely and often. Her thoughtful nature was evident in the way she cared for others, remembered the little things, and offered comfort without needing to be asked.
Rita was a devout Catholic, and her faith was an important part of the foundation on which she built her life. She carried herself with grace and a quiet strength that reflected her beliefs. In the way she lived, she reminded others that faith is not only spoken but also demonstrated through patience, kindness, and love. She faced life with determination and a heart that believed in the goodness of people, even when the road was not easy.
She found joy in simple pleasures that brought laughter and connection. Playing Bingo was one of the ways she enjoyed herself, and she embraced the excitement and companionship that came with it. She also enjoyed Candy Crush, a pastime that gave her moments of fun and relaxation. These interests reflected her playful side and her ability to appreciate the lighter moments in life. Rita understood that happiness can be found in everyday experiences, and she made the most of them.
Rita is lovingly remembered by her family, including her oldest brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hulse, her daughter and daughter in-law, Jacqueline M Rosado and Glorimar Santiago, her son, Joseph Arroyo, her granddaughter, Ashley Natson, and grandson, Johnathon Mujica Arroyo, her great grandchildren Orlando, Olivia and Oziah Ros, her niece, Monika Hulse and nephew, Christopher Hulse. Each of them carries a piece of her story, her laughter, and her love. The bond she shared with her family was meaningful and enduring, and her influence will continue to be felt through the generations that follow. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, and loved one whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around her.
Those who knew Rita will remember her as funny, generous, and thoughtful. She had a way of making people laugh that came from the heart, and her generosity was not limited to material things. She gave her time, her attention, and her care, which are gifts that matter deeply and last far beyond a moment. Her thoughtfulness showed in the way she moved through life with consideration for others, always aware that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Rita Erving lived a life that encourages us all to do better, love harder, and keep faith in the journey. Her story is one of resilience and warmth, of laughter and devotion, of a woman who understood that life is precious and should be lived with purpose. Though she is no longer here in body, the light she brought into the world remains in the hearts of those who knew her. Her memory stands as a powerful reminder to cherish each day, to speak kindly, to love deeply, and to keep going with courage. May Rita be remembered not only for the life she lived but for the example she set. She showed that a meaningful life is built through love, faith, humor, and generosity. Her legacy will continue to inspire her family and all who were touched by her presence.
