Roger Joseph Holmes
Obituary
Roger Joseph Holmes peacefully passed away on August 17, 2023. He was born on January 16, 1938 as the sixth of twelve children born to George and Lillian Holmes in Long Branch New Jersey. He did a short stint in the United States Army and then returned to Long Branch where he found employment in a nursing home. He later moved to Englishtown, working at a another nursing home, before once more making his way back to Long Branch. He was a custodial guard at the Kennedy Towers, where he resided until his passing.
Roger had a daughter, Dove, who passed away on April 21, 2015. He was predeceased by four brothers, Herman Oliver, George Holmes Jr., and David, and three sisters, Greta Butler, Harrilyn Derickson, and Olive May Holmes. He leaves to mourn a granddaughter, Precious Best, two great grandchildren. Ayanna and Zahyre, and four sisters Viola Thrett, Marva Hurt, Karen Westwood of Decatur, Georgia and Norma Martin of Red Bank, New Jersey.
