Rosemary Strickland, beloved mother, daughter, Mimi, aunt and friend passed away on May 13, 2023 in Long Branch at the age of 67. She was born on May 19, 1955, in Bronx, NY to Patricia and Daniel Monahan. She attended Visitation Grammar School and graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary’s High School before going on to obtain her degree in Nursing. She was member of Holy Trinity Church of Christ the King Parish in Long Branch.
Rosemary was a loving wife to her late husband of 45 years, Joe Strickland, and an amazing mother to her surviving children, Michele Pigna (Aldo), Sean Strickland (Heather), and Amy Arlequin (Raul). She was also a cherished grandmother (Mimi) to her grandchildren Aldo, Alex, Sean, and Sophia. She was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Strickland, father Daniel Monahan, and brother John Monahan. Surviving are her mother Patricia Monahan, sister Susan Cronin, brother Daniel Monahan, sisters-in-law Terry Monahan and Laurie Pruitt, as well as her nieces and nephews Brian, Matthew, Megan, Dana, and Erin.
Rosemary was known for her ability to make people laugh, her kindness, her selflessness, and her determination. She was a confidant, a shoulder to lean on, and a mentor to all who knew her. She had a lasting impact on all the lives that she touched. She was a devoted nurse and cared deeply for her patients. Outside of work, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and spending summers at the beach. Rosemary will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 19 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Saturday; 9 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Holy Trinity Church of Christ the King Parish in Long Branch.
