Rosemary Weir, 80, of Monmouth Beach died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday August 3, 2021. Born in Newark, she lived in Bloomfield before moving to Monmouth Beach 31 years ago. Rosemary is survived by her beloved husband Thomas J. Weir, her son and daughter-in-law Tom and Lisa Weir also of Monmouth Beach, her beloved grandson Jarrett Weir, her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Margaret Valvano, and her many cherished cousins.
Rosemary, fondly known as “the Chief”, worked as a bank teller at Security National Bank after raising her children and then joined her husband’s business Thomas Weir Associates and ran the office for the past 40 years. She was a parishioner of The Church of Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach, walking to Saturday night mass every week. Rosemary would often be seen walking around town or around Griffin Park, or maybe catching her grandson’s baseball game. She never missed his football games and even attended one of his college wrestling matches even if she couldn’t bear to watch. Rosemary was a huge NY Giants fan, loved gardening, reading, playing cards, was on a bowling league when she was younger, and loved her outings with her cousins and traveling with her husband. But most of all Rosemary loved being with her family.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 9 am until the time of Rosemary’s celebration of life at 12 pm at Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to rwjbh.org/mmcgivenow for the wonderful care they provided. The family invites you to leave letters of condolences via Tribute/ Guestbook using the link above.
