Ruth Ellen Reichert Obituary

Ruth Ellen Reichert (nee Fagan) passed away on Jan 24, 2021 after a long illness.  She was 85.  Ruth was born in Philadelphia, PA but spent most of her life in Ocean Township, NJ and Long Branch, NJ.  Ruth’s spirit lives on in her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who she loved so much. Ruth was adventurous, fearless, a prankster and had a strong sense of humor.  We all have many happy memories of time spent with her.   She will be missed.

Ruth loved art and photography, and was incredibly talented at both. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Monmouth University in 1983. She loved to photograph friends and family, and the walls of her home were filled with these photos. In any spaces on her walls that were left, she filled them with her artwork. Her art talent was unmistakable. Be it a drawing, a sculpture, or a painting, she captured the world in amazing detail. Her brushes and pens may now be still, but her creations will live on and remind us of her.

Ruth also loved adventure.  She and her family spent months traveling across country, camping and hiking.  She traveled to Spain. She snowmobiled in the mountains of Colorado.  She sailed to Bermuda with friends in a private sailboat as part of the crew, and survived violent storms at sea with a smile on her face.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents: Ruth Astrid Söderström Fagan and Patrick George Fagan, her brothers Richard, Frank, Ted, and George, and her sister Julia. She is survived by her sons Steve Reichert (wife Pam, daughter Nicole) and Dave Reichert (wife Ana, sons Conor and Joshua), her daughter Diane Reichert, her ex-husband Walt Reichert, her sister-in-law Betty Fagan, and many nieces and nephews.

The Reichert family would like to thank the staff at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all their excellent care and help.  We couldn’t have done it without you.

The family held a private memorial, but asks all who loved her to celebrate her life by remembering all the laughs and good times they had together. The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence by selecting the Tribute/Guestbook link above.
