Thomas Anthony "Tony" Maher

Thomas Anthony “Tony” Maher, age 71, passed away May 22nd, 2026 on the island of Ambergris Caye, Belize. 

He was born May 17th, 1955, in Gilford Surrey, England, a son of the late Kathleen and Sean Maher. 

Tony was raised in the town of Kilmaquage, Ireland, outside Dunmore East. He completed an Engineering Degree from Trinity College Dublin. During this time he spent his summers working in New York City where his love for America blossomed. He resided in Waterford City, Ireland following college where he would eventually meet his wife and move his life to America.

The shore towns of Monmouth County, New Jersey became his and his family’s home for 35 years of his life. There he built his Real Estate Development business and opened his bar Rory’s Pub in Sea Bright. He spent his finally years on the island of Ambergris Caye, Belize with his son doing what he loved. 

Tony lead his life with ambition, optimism, and generosity. But the most important thing about his life is that he enjoyed it. 

He is survived by his loving wife Jean; children Troy, Drew, and Rory; grandson JJ; only brother Sean; and many nieces, nephews, and relatives in Ireland.

A  memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 4-7 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home in Long Branch. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday at 10:30 am from The Roman Catholic Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach, NJ.
