Thomas R. Carretta Sr. passed away on August 29, 2021 at the age of 86. Born and raised in Long Brach, he moved to West Long Branch in 1977. He remained in West Long Branch with his beloved wife Anne and their 3 sons: Thomas R. Jr., John and David. He was also a loving grandfather to his 5 grandchildren, Samantha, Nicholas, Alexis, Daniel and Thomas.
Thomas served honorably in the US Army from 1958 to 1964. He worked at the Charms Factory on Heck St. in Asbury Park and later for the US Postal Service in Long Branch and Elberon, which he served for 39 years until his retirement in 2009.
In his younger years Thomas enjoyed bowling, golf and tennis. Later in life he enjoyed spending time in Atlantic City with his wife Anne, who passed away in 2005. He enjoyed watching football and baseball, and was a huge fan of the NY Football Giants, Notre Dame, NY Yankees and the (Brooklyn) LA Dodgers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2 from 4 – 8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Friday; 10 am from the funeral home with a Service to begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
