Timothy F. Mickens, age 67, of Long Branch, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on February 10, 2024 while walking on the beach with his beloved dog Jed.
Timothy will be remembered for his honorable and proud service; he served as Chief of the Little Silver Fire Department in 1989 and is an Exempt and Life Member of the Little Silver Fire Company, the New Jersey Firemen’s relief Association and a former member of the Port-Au-Peck Chemical Hose Company and Rumson Fire Departments.
At one time he had his own ambulance service. He was a former security officer at Monmouth Park Jockey Club and Naval Weapons Station Earle. Tim was a former Police Office for Little Silver and retired from the Joint Base McGuire Department of Defense Police.
Most recently he was a seasonal beach worker on the Long Branch Beach, where he enjoyed talking to old and new friends, solving all of the world’s problems along with his opinions on all things public safety and especially all things that affect “The Friendly City.” and served as an administrator on Facebook's Monmouth County Fire News...
He is survived by his cousins, Doreen Mickens Raftery, Walter Mickens, Randy Mickens, and his many relatives on the Shea side of the family and longtime childhood friend Pat Mason and brother firemen, especially the member of the Little Silver Fire Company. Timothy was preceded in death by his father, Frank Mickens, his mother, Marion Mickens (Boyce), his sister, Pamela Mickens (Govett), and his uncle, Walter H. Mickens.
Visitation will be held at Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue Long Branch, NJ on Sunday February 18, 2024 from 1pm until the time of Firemen's Services at 2:45. A funeral procession will follow to the Little Silver Fire house where a final salute will be held to honor his lifelong dedication to the fire service.
In memory of Timothy Mickens, the family kindly requests that any donations be made to Little Silver Fire Company 543 Prospect Avenue, Little Silver, NJ 07739
