Vincent Blount Obituary

It is with deepest regret and sadness that we announce the passing of Vincent Blount, 56, of Long Branch, NJ on Tuesday January 11, 2022.

Vincent was born in Neptune, NJ on March 22, 1965 to James and Shirley Blount.

Vincent is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children Vyasia, Kyeshia, Kyasia, Alana, Alora, and Jacqueline; stepchildren Darnell Wilson, Daquan Brown, Durian Brown, Chloe Augustitis and Christian Augustitis; grandchildren Tyanah, Tyking, Ha’keem, Deshawn and Vincent; mother Shirley; siblings Michael, Jacqueline Murrell (Ronald), Troy, Darius, Aric, Andre (Pauline), Tetia Dortch (Devaughn), and Tamera Evans (Saul Jr.); goddaughter and niece Ava Marie Blount; an abundance of nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by his father James in September 2021.

Vincent grew up in Asbury Park, NJ where he went to high school and played varsity football.  He went on to a culinary arts school.  He loved to cook and teach others how to cook.  He worked in the union as a laborer for over 20 years.  He more recently was working in a retirement community where he was adored by all the residents.  Vincent was a true jack of all trades, having experience in every line of work.  When he was not working he was coaching recreation football in Asbury Park.  For over 35 years he was a father and mentor to every young man he coached.  He frequently could be heard saying “I bleed blue” due to his love of the community he grew up in.  He touched the lives of countless people.

Vincent took his greatest pride in his children.  He was a rock to his mother and pillar to his brothers and sisters.  He was never asked to do anything to help a family member or friend in need because he was already taking care of it.  His continuous movement and motivation kept everyone around him looking forward.

Vincent was the truest definition of a family man, husband and father.  Anyone that knew him knew that his family meant everything.  He was a lover of life and dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  He was one of a kind. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends.  Vincent will never be forgotten but forever remembered and truly missed by all who were fortunate enough to meet him.

A celebration of Vincent’s life will be held on Saturday January 22 from 4pm-9pm at the Elks of Freehold 73 E Main Street Freehold, NJ 07728. The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence by selecting the Tribute/Guestbook link above.
