Virginia R. Maggio Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Virginia “Jean” Maggio formerly of Elizabeth, NJ. Jean peacefully passed away at home in Long Branch, NJ in the early morning of Friday, March 19th with her two daughters by her side.  She lived a remarkable 98 years blessing all those around her with her playful spirit and loving nature.

Virginia was born November 30, 1922 to Margaret and Robert Roupenian in Hoboken, NJ and was the oldest sister to Robert and Kenneth.

Known to most as “Jeanie” she was a retired operator for NJ Bell Telephone company, a member of the Pioneers social club, a devout parishioner of St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, nanny, aunt and friend to many.

She is survived by her daughters Deniz Stasil Serratelli and her husband Carmine, and Patricia Relucio. She spent the better part of her life known as “Gram” to her three grandchildren: Thomas Stasil and his wife Michelle, Roger Relucio Jr., and Alexis Sciortino and her husband, Paul.  She was blessed to see her great-grandchildren grow up, Shayna and Cam Stasil, and to spend time with her newest great-grandson, Paul Joseph Sciortino, III over the last 2.5 years.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 25th at 10:30am at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church, 200 Monmouth Rd, Elizabeth, NJ 07208.  She will be buried at Mt. Olivet in Newark, NJ alongside her husband, Salvatore.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org in her memory, an organization near and dear to her heart.  The family asks for prayers of comfort and peace during this time.  The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence by selecting the Tribute/Guestbook link above
