Vito D’Amico, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2021. He was born October 15, 1934 to Frank and Maria (Swift) D’Amico. Vito grew up in Brooklyn, NY before moving to the Jersey Shore, living the last 23 years in Lakewood. He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for many years, retiring in 1993. Vito was the manager of the Brick Hockey Club and volunteered in positions within the Hockey Club. Besides his love for his family, one of his greatest passions were games of chance. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, Monmouth Park, or in his earlier years, places like Saratoga Racetrack or Las Vegas. He never met a card game he didn’t like!
He is predeceased by his loving sister Zina Aloia. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, his step-daughter, Kim Baldanza (who he treated as his own) and her husband Joseph, a son Frank D’Amico, and his wife Kathy, and a daughter Marie Petersen, and her husband Wayne. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ashley and Nick Baldanza, Alexis D’Amico and Trevor Petersen.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 31 from 9 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch.
