It is with sadness to announce the passing of William (Bill) M. Conway, age 71, formerly of West Long Branch on December 21, 2022 in Bethlehem Hospital, PA. Bill was born in Long Branch, New Jersey. He relocated to PA after retiring to enjoy the life in the mountains that he loved so much.
Bill attained his Associates Degree from Rutgers University. He was self-employed, but worked for numerous builders installing underground utilities and worked part time for Red Bank Recycling as a driver. For many years however, he was the caretaker for both Woodbine and Glenwood cemeteries.
Bill was an exempt firefighter. He joined the Oceanic Engine and Truck Company of the Long Branch Fire Department in 1988 serving as Captain in 1992 and was a founding member of Emergency Services Unit - Rescue 85, as well as a member of the West Long Branch Fire Department, Co. #2. After relocating to PA, he continued to be a firefighter.
He is predeceased by his father and mother, William and Janet Conway. Bill is survived by his brother Dennis and his wife; Dennis' children Tiffany and Elizabeth; his sister Patricia and her sons Joe and Chris; his son Billy, and his daughter Dakota. Also, Brian Trillo and Melanie Gargano (fiancée), Greg and Mandee Trillo, and their children, Hunter and Vaeda, who he treated as family.
Visitation will be held at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch, on Saturday, December 31 from 9 am until the time of a Firemen’s Service at 10:00 am.
